The Avicultural Society (based in the UK) covers the keeping and breeding of all types of birds other than domesticated varieties, and has a world-wide membership.

It publishes four 48-page issues of the AVICULTURAL MAGAZINE annually, which are sent to all fully paid-up members and other subscribers. These include most top aviculturalists, as well as leading zoos, bird gardens, conservation organisations and research institutes around the world.

Mrs Ruth Sawyer (née Miss Ruth Ezra), President of the Avicultural Society, died on August 21st, aged 88, at her home, Chestnut Lodge, Cobham, Surrey. Ruth, who was elected President of the Avicultural Society in 1986, following the death of Jean Delacour, played an active role in the society until shortly before her death. Appreciations of Ruth and A Personal Tribute will be published in Vol.113, No.3, 2007 and posted on this website shortly.
