The Avicultural Society

The tragic and untimely death of John Ellis leaves a huge gap in the avicultural and zoo worlds. He was an energetic member of the Avicultural Society Council, and made a particularly important contribution to the society’s web presence. He led the redesign of the website (recently favourably reviewed in Cage & Aviary Birds) and created the society’s facebook page. He was a zoo professional who started as a hobby birdkeeper, and was one of the key people in maintaining the vital link between zoos and private aviculture. He will be sorely missed by many, many good friends in the bird world, and all at the Avicultural Society would like to convey their deep sympathy to John’s family at this sad time.
